World Health Organization predicted that by 2020 arthritis would be the fourth leading cause of disability worldwide. But we shouldn’t wait until we have arthritis to take action. Taking care of your joints, you can prevent pain and possibly even arthritis. Few tips that can save you from this discomfort.
Carrying Heavy Objects:
While you carry objects, remember to carry it taking close to your body. Don’t lift it bending your back. Bend your knees to lift objects that are not more than 25 kgs.
Use Big Joints Bags:
Don’t forget to carry your shopping bag on big joints. Carrying heavy shopping bags on fingers is harmful, it is better to put them on to shoulder or forearm.
Carrying Heavy Pots:
While carrying heavy pots, don’t forget to put hands under the handle to grip the weight. If you just grip the handle sides of pot from top, your joints will feel the effect and pressure of the weight.
Use Both Hands While Carrying Objects:
Mostly people suffering from rheumatoid arthritis have problems with their hands and wrists. You can take care by lowering the stress on these areas by lifting and carrying objects with both hands as it can evenly distribute the weight.
Re-organize Shelves and Drawers:
While storing objects and arranging things regularly, you can always keep it at your waist level so that it is easy and you do not have to bend low to pick up things that stress your joints and back.
Use Assisting Devices:
While you are doing any daily activities like bathing or wearing shoes or cleaning, long brushes to reach your back area to clean that lowers the pressure on shoulder to stretch. Sit on a chair and fold and rest your legs on knee one by one to wear shoes and socks or use long handled horns to set your shoes rather than bending to set them.
